You need a new pinion seal.  They're readily available
from your parts store.  Pry out the old seal with a 
screw driver.  Note the original seal may have used
leather.  The new and improved seal uses rubber.
Install the old seal.  Check the rear end fluid level and
top out as needed.  Then motor away.

Of all this assumes you have undone the driveshaft
at the rear U-joint.  Why not replace you U-joints too.
You've got the drive shaft out already.  Remember to
use NEW bolts when bolting the driveshaft at the rear
U-joint.  Do NOT reuse the old 4 bolts and nuts.

Why not go the whole nine yards and have the balance
checked on your driveshaft.
