Reading through a car magazine (that shall remain nameless), I came across an ad
for an exhaust company making "synchronized crossover H-pipes" for late model
Mustangs. The crossover part looks like a pair of 90 degree elbows, joined at
the 45 degree point on the outside of each bend. Presumably there's a hole there
so that the exhaust gas can dribble through to the other pipe (and if the hole
is large enough, I guess you'd actually cross most of the exhaust gas over,
since it's a straighter shot).
The benefits of this arrangement (supposedly) are:
1. Better sound ("Get that NASCAR sound!")
2. More power/torque (even compared to regular H-pipes), I forget how much
3. Less noise (a claimed 6-8 dBA, which is a lot)
So, has anyone seen or used these? I know this would be hard to do under a
Tiger, but that doesn't mean that one shouldn't try or at least think about it.
