Rob,

Ask him if he knows Scott Harvey. Scott was with Chrysler and did a lot of
rallying/racing over the years, driving post Chrysler Rootes cars. Scott
lives in the San Diego area. Great guy, great stories

I just moved into a new house in a new neighborhood. My next door neighbor
is a retired Chrysler executive. He was in charge of Chrylser's competition
department for many years (from the 50s and 60's). And, drum roll please,
he
was also in charge of Chrysler UK when they bought Rootes. So far, we've
only spent an hour or so talking car stuff. I already asked him about why
Chrysler canned Rootes soon after buying them. His answer was "Chrysler
bought a bunch of companies that were going under before Chrysler bought
them. Then Chrysler refused to invest in the companies, and they continued
to go under."

When he lived in the UK, his pre-teenage son had an Alpine!

Anyway, I'm not an expert on Rootes history, so if anyone has an interesting
question to ask him, let me know and I'll try to get the inside scoop.
