Fred,

a good trick used in old cars in the UK is to install a cut off tap in
the fuel line. This is in addition to disabling the pump in the Tiger
and is a good idea in an Alpine with a mechanical pump.

This allows the car to drive as far as the fuel in the carb allows,
generally embarrassing the thief as they end up in the middle of
somewhere with a car that won't start!

The logic is that if it won't start when they try,, they will try to
find out why before they try and go anywhere. If it starts (making nice
sports car noises attracting attention from wannabees) gets then 100
yards and then dies in full view, they tend to leave pretty quick.
OK so your pride and joy may expire in the middle of an intersection but
you will find out where it is pretty quick!!

If you want to disable the ignition and don't want to pay excess baggage
on the flight, take the distributor cap rather than the battery 8-)

Be realistic about electrical cut outs, the Lucas technology is hardly
aerospace standard and can be figured out pretty quick by anyone with a
length of wire 3 feet long.

regards

Jeff
