And how about the old days when gas was $.34 a gallon. I was on a 1968
summer trip with my stock 260 Tiger and I made the run from the Grand
Canyon to Yellowstone in mid July 1968 a total of 1105 miles averaging 24.1
mpg. That summer I spent 42 days on the road for a total mileage of 10,518
and the Tiger performed flawless over mountains and across deserts. And I
spent $417 for the total trip. The last summer of my carefree youth. I
remember the last day leaving Fort Wayne, In. at 7:30 and driving straight
through to NH. I arrived home the next morning at 7:30 a total of 864 miles
in 24 hours (24.3 mpg). Of course I was 24 at the time. Now I'm good for
about 2 hours max in the Tiger before needing to get out and stretch.

PS In moving boxes this summer I came across the diary I kept of the trip 44
years ago. Amazing reading and I know buried in there somewhere is my
original bill of sale from a Chrysler dealer.
