Tom Hall's solution to the tach problem sounds like the way to go and will
probably be
more reliable than anything else out there, knowing him, but there are a
couple of other
alternatives that have been documented here and there. For one, the Alpine
7000 rpm tach
from a negative ground car (Series V, I think) can be used in the Tiger
with some recalibration,
which isn't too difficult. Also, the tach from an early Sprite/MG Midget
can be used as well,
as long as it is for a negative ground, again with some recalibration. The
Spridget tach fits in
the Tiger dash and looks almost identical to the LAT option tach (except it
says 4 cylinder,
instead of 8). They can usually be found on eBay for $10 or $20. It has
also been reported
that the tach from a Triumph Stag will work, too. It's even possible to
use the tachs from
positive ground cars by doing a little bit of rearranging of wires inside
the case. Lots of
possibilities if you look around as a lot of the tachs used in the sixties
all came from the
same place.
