Tom,

First, all sizes are listed on the TigersUnited article on bolt sizes
(Kirt Jensen's Restoration Tips "Complete Tiger Fastener List", as well
as the Rootes Tiger Parts List.

Grade 8 available in most auto parts stores and bolt & nut dealers
(Yellow pages under that name) i.e. Allen Bolt & Industrial Supply, 1711
W. Burbank Blvd., Burbank (818)-984-2115.

There WAS a great surplus store in Burbank, Joe Factor on Burbank Blvd.
and Hollywood Way. He had an amazing assortment of aircraft/missle
graded bolts, stainless, titanium, hydraulic hoses, electric DC pumps,
etc. I bought grade 8, stainless, titanium bolts for some applications.

He retired and his grand daughter took the inventory and moved west.
She made the mistake of changing the name and not keeping dual
listings, so most thought they were gone forever. I spent 3 hours
tracing them down for you. They are now "Luky's Hardware", 3814 W.
Burbank Blvd., (818)-845-8338. It is now MUCH better organized, so the
bolt sizes are in order, along with the matching nuts, washers and
materials. Before it was a Safari to find stuff. Sells by the pound
(or fraction thereof.) Price depends on type of item, but NOT expensive.
The 1/4 inch 8 point head Titanium bolts were the most expensive at $1
each.

For those outside the area, she has agreed to fill a shopping list at
ship (minimum order, don't ask for 2 bolts). These are all MIL SPEC
surplus, not rejects, and great. Even sealed O-rings, but can't vouch
for condition, even in metal lined heat sealed bags. Probably good
enough for instrument bezel trim. The inside ones are not round! See TU
article, Restoration Tips, Repairing Jaeger and Smiths speedometers by
Tony Rhoades.

Stainless steel parts (not for high strength areas) are affordably
priced an marine supply (boat) stores. One in Reseda, The Anchor, 6616
Reseda Blvd., Reseda (818) 343-1921, between Victory and Van Owen has a
great selection, and even sells them onsey-twosey from sorted counter
top bins. Has all kinds of heads and threads, so I replaced everything
I took off for complete paint job with stainless, polished in bulk by a
small commercial polishing place. Even has push-button quick release
ball detent pins for replacing front pivot seat bolts for quick removal
of front seats. These are about $14 each, but brand new. Saves your back
and neck while under dash!

So head East a few miles. California is so fortunate to have all those
military suppliers and surplus dealers.

Good luck.

Steve
