As I understand it the reason they came on the right, was that Alpines
came with it on the right. The reason for THAT, is the overdrive
selector switch was on a stalk to the left, so that you could shift with
your right hand and simultaneously operate the OD switch with your left.

Ok, here is the next question.  Where did most owners find their
directional
stock, on the left side or right side?  Mine was on the right and I
swapped
it
over to the left.  The car was extremely original when I purchased it
and
looked like nothing had been touched, but it was owned by an Englishman
and
I
always wondered if he swapped it to the right or if it came that way.
