Speaking of Tigers United

I was just sitting here stewing about missing out on
Tigers United this past weekend, especially
considering that my car is freshly restored and this
years special guests were Carroll Shelby and George
Boskoff. I look forward to hearing about how great it
all was. In the meantime, I was thinking about how
great the Tigers United concept is, and not just the
event itself. Steve Laifmans Tigers United website
is my #1 favorite Tiger internet site. Hes got great
content and links into all the regional Tiger/Sunbeam
activities. It really has the polished look and feel
of a National Tiger Club web site.

I was also considering what a great job Michael Marcus
has done in making CATs Tiger Tales newsletter look
like a real mainstream car magazine and thought how
incredible it would be to have a Tigers United
magazine (same look and feel as the web site) with
coverage/contributions from each of the regional clubs
and distributed to members of all participating clubs,
in place of having separate newsletters. I think I
currently get 4 different Sunbeam/Tiger newsletters
each month. There has to be some economies of scale to
make this idea worthwhile, both in
production/distribution costs to the clubs, as well as
in pulling together sufficient meaningful content for
the publication itself.

Perhaps two or more of the various Tiger/Sunbeam club
editors can start by collaborating on an annual
Tigers United issue, and then see if they can move
to semi-annual, quarterly and eventually full year
replacement for the separate newsletters.

Of course its easy for me to toss this out from
Houston, the middle of nowhere in Tigerland, and I
expect that there may be some club politics that get
in the way, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy, so
Im willing to do what I can to help. Anyone else
think this is a worthy cause?

My 2 cents,
Stephen Waybright
