Scott, did you look at the tire size and the wheel width.  Tire mnf have 
a recommended wheel width to match various tires.  The LAT-70 is a 
rather narrow rim, and for safety sake, adding too wide a tire, and 50's 
may be to wide may be beyond the capacity.

Check Tire Rack .com and see the recommended width, or just call them.
