        The jets have little to do with the just off idle position. 
  
There is an idle transfer port that supports just off idle.   This is the
port just above the throttle plates;
 
Check to see if they are clean, also check the position of the plates to the
transfer ports.

Check fuel level in the bowls.
   
Check that the accelerator pump system is working OK.   You may need to
change the cam.

Check the vacuum system for leaks.

Make sure your distributor advance and ignition system is working correctly.

Is the spark plug gap correct?

How far above stock is reasonable?
 
Holley lists size 57 jets for the 1848.  I am up to 60s and it still seams
to have a little lean stumble just off idle.
