Anyone know what the rear axle nut torque spec is? There is no reference 
to it in the factory manual.

Sure there is.  Page 22,  Hub Nut 125 ft lbs., or until you can get the 
castle nut slot lined up with the hole in the axle for the cotter key.  If 
you use an anti seize compound on the taper, it will be easier to take 
apart next time.

Thanks for the replies Tom and Charlie.  I have a 1964 version of the workshop 
manual and it does not have a page 22 or the hub nut spec.  I checked the 
version on the Tigers United and sure enough, there it was.

I anti-siezed everything when I assembled the car back in '88 and had no 
problems taking anything apart (with the help of Dan Walters' ultimate hub 
puller that I made from the article posted on the United site).
