I am thinking of taking a welding class locally to learn some of the basics
(and have some fun), but with the ultimate intent of being able to do panel or
other repair on my Tigers and other cars down the road. The local course is 12
3-hour sessions geared towards sculpture. See description below. Anyone
familiar with welding enough to be able to tell if this might be a good way to
get my feet wet, especially since the class isnt really focused on TIG and MIG
per se (more oxy acetylene gas)? Anyone know of any other welding schools in
NYC that arent degree oriented long-term programs, but more for hobbyists?
Thanks, Peter.

"BEGINNING WELDING
Learn the basic techniques of creating metal sculpture. Students will learn how
to safely use oxy acetylene gas, brazing, cutting and grinding and an
introduction to arc welding."
