MASS flow is what counts, and definitely not cavitation, caused by too 
high impeller tip speeds.

One of the best after market water pumps is the one made by Edelbrock 
for the HiPo Mustang.  It will require a removal, reversing, and 
re-installing the fan mounting flange on the pump, if you still have the 
1" pulley mount.  This was simply a standard Ford fan mount, reversed to 
bring the fan back, and make a shorter engine length.  It is not cheap, 
but it is really fine and all aluminum.  For an extra arm and leg, you 
can get it polished.
