You guys are missing the best part....the sound!

These babies sound just like an external starter on an F1 car....
That characteristic high pitched gear whine that is mildly addictive....

At least mine does! (Worth the price of admission....)

Ford makes a permanent magnet starter that fits all 289, 302 and 351Ws,
of  
this I'm sure from personal uses. It is smaller than the standard
starter and  
much stronger. It comes with the connecting loom as it uses a relay and
is  
really easy to install. It's also listed in SVO catalog (mine seems have
develop 
 legs and ran off).
 
These starters have a support bearing at the end of the shaft just like
all  
Ford starters. Most, if not all of the mini-hi torque starters do not
have 
this  support.
 
My 289 Cobra and 351W Pantera all use this starter and removing and  
replacing is a snap Each have to have various other parts removed, or
the engine  
jacked up with the stock starter.
