You will also get much better results if you supply
ground wire for the bulb returns, rather than depending
on making the ground connection thru the long lens securing
screws.
After looking at it I was amazed it ever worked.
The connection is marginal before corrosion ...
Plus the tendency to tighten it to make a better
contact just stress the lens plastic.
