California doesn't always lead the way in repealling dumb legisltion.
Remember 55 mph?

Texas now has legislation in process to outlaw traffic light cameras
for a long list of reasons, but most critically is that traffic safety
studies by several states and univerisites have concluded there is no
resulting safety benefit. In fact, some data suggests that safety may
be compromised in the scenario where an overly-obedient citizen who
mearly mis-judged the light slams on the brakes just to be safe!

If you love driving and want to see safety issues addressed with
thoughtful, effective, efficient solutions rather than the more typical
politically correct, yet ineffective legislation we end up with, I
encourage you to check out the National Motorist Association. I don't
agree with 100% of their postitons, but they are right on the money
more often than not.
