Definitely agree. When I was in 6th grade, (yes, there were cars and garages 
then!!!!) I was leaning on the coil spring of our garage door and it broke 
in my hand and just missed my head, bouncing off the ceiling. Shook me up 
pretty bad. But back then they didn't seem to think this was a big deal and 
just replaced the spring, with no restraint cable.

Rollup doors seem like a pretty good idea.
