I just rebuilt my own toploader and converted it to a wide ratio. Very easy
and I love it. The only thing better would be a 5 speed from Tom Hall.

Just my 2 cents

Lynn

hey all -

couple quick questions:

(1) i've seen, but i forget now, who is making 5 speed conversion kits?
what
has been people's experience and views with respect to these?

(2) i am thinking of getting dan williams toploaders
(http://www.toploadertransmissions.com) to rebuild my 4 speed toploader
(since
it is out of the car anyway), but thinking of going with a wider ratio,
lower
gears for 1st through 3rd, same 1:1 for 4th (for instance going from 2:32
for
1st gear to a 2:78). what is people's experience and views with respect to
this? my tiger is disassembled and body is at dougs, so now is the time for
me
to easily rebuild the tranny (even though it was fine before i disassembled
the
car). i dont care much about mpg, but DO care about speed/acceleration.

i may rebuild the 4 sp toploader and put it on the shelf, and put in a 5
speed
to enjoy and be able to cruise at 80 mph on the highway for long trips...
but
i do want it looking original.

thanks
peter
