Started to take the carpets out and other miscellaneous items from the
interior in order to get an idea of what I need for the restoration but now
I'm more confused about interior color then I was before.
I have mentioned this to a few of you and I also posed the question to Norm
about the color combo but something is not right.
According to all Rootes references the inside of the Tiger should be Azure
Blue with #76 Balmoral Gray paint. However, the whole inside of the car is
black, no where is there any indication that the interior was once Azure Blue.
Of course the POs before could have changed the inside of the car to black but
why go to all that expense. I figured I would find some shred of evidence that
the interior was Azure Blue, but alas none. The door panels do not look
original so I know they were changed out sometime, to change the carpet is not
a big deal but all the other interior panels and such would have to be
changed. I can see the dash being black and the dash pad also being black but
why no indication the the interior was Azure Blue. Unless, this Tiger came out
of the factory with a black interior instead of the Azure blue?? Could this be
possible? We all know that a few strange thing did happen at the Rootes
factories.
Now the question is, do I put a black interior back in or do I go with Azure
Blue?? For now I'm leaning towards the blue, I think with the gray it looks
really good.
Anyway, just thought I would throw this out there and see what people
thought.
