Seems to me that the cars of that era that had moldings of this type were  
removed with a beer bottle church key. The Key was protected with tape and  
gently removed the molding by prying up from the lower side and releasing them  
from the top. This is a challenge for the most accomplished body man as they  
will get in a hurry and pretzelize them. HTH
