Generator Ford part # is C1TZ-10002-A
http://www.tigersunited.com/resources/parts_rs260/Parts_List/17-WF-Electical
Equipment.pdf
See page WF-3

Note; the pulley on your generator maybe unique to the Tiger.
Note#2 never, ever throw a Tiger part away, it is your only link to original
parts

A little whine might be acceptable, a lot of whine is probably the bearings.
Have you checked the voltage and amp output of your generator?
If there is little voltage or amp output you may need to polarize the
generator

The first step is always to try and find someone to rebuild your generator.
I'm not sure if there are generator rebuild kits available; basically
brushes and bearings.
There are some instructions in the online Shop Manual above about rebuilding
a generator.

The last time I had my generator rebuilt it cost around $75, the armature
had to be lathe cut.

A last resort might be to convert to an alternator.
I went the conversion route due to the continuing problems I had with the
generator system on my Tiger.

Welcome back to the world of Sunbeam and the beast

After a year in the garage with no movement, I finally got off my duff and
resurrected the beast. The generator on my MK1a is whining. Is the fix a
brush replacement, a rebuild, or should I just get a rebuilt one? I have not
rebuilt a generator before and am not sure what is involved.

Thanks,
Chris
