My late MK Ia B382002668 came with a black vinyl pinpoint 'hood'
with black interior. The hood fit great but the back window yellowed
so much you couldnot see out. El cheapo me replaced the window
with a piece of plastic that I hand sewed in. A few years I replaced
the hood with one I got from ACMO. My original hood I gave to a fellow
owner who still uses it. It's still black with black interior and my
window is still there.

Ken Bishop's original MK II with original hoodhas the same black
pinpoint vinyl hood and black interior.

I think the hoods came in different colors. The sales brochure lists
what hood came with what exterior color. Of course Rootes would
subsitute ir ordered. So what's standard?? Who cares, You
are supposed to be 'top down' anyway.

I've said this before on the list. When ordering from AMCO Ihood I
discovered there are two different hoods for the velcro Tigers
(late MKIA and MKII) came with different hoods. I discovered, from
doing lots af research, Sunbeam changed the interior dimensions
for MK II and late MK IA. They raised the steering wheel to provide
more thigh room. They also raised the roof of the hood. A simple fix
except the earlier hood was now too short left to right. Sure enough,
when AMCO sent me their top, I found it a perfect fit front to back,
but 1.5 inches short, left to right. I called AMCO. They said that had
a new number for MK II. So I returned the hood and they sent the
other number Perfect left to right.

On a hot sunny day, its a one man job.

So Mauro, if your MK IA is a late number, order the MK II top
otherwise the standard top. Check the length left to right.

By the way:
The bloody colonials refer to hoods as tops. A top is a toy.
The bonnet covers the engine, not hood. Its a boot not trunk
Etc.

Dave

So, in terms of Vinyl, what came originally on the 1966 Mark 1A Tigers, some
kind of crush grain, or pinpoint? Does anyone know? Thanks. Mauro
