welcome to the nightmare that is living in nyc and being a car guy! (at least
in manhattan)
check craigs list, many private garages on the jersey side of the hudson, some
in queens
i rent a hanger 90 miles north of nyc, but getting tired of no heat, although
nice backroads nearby, around $400 for a HUGE space, but technically you need
to keep a plane (sometimes way around this as i dont have one)
warehouse units on long island are another option, near the city though they
are in hard core industrial areas, nicer ones out near mcarthur airport which
is an hr from the city (figure $8-10 per sq foot per year)
for mint cars, an option in westchester is collectorscargarage[dot]com/CCG/
for $350 per car but cant work on them there, there is a similar option on
long island but about an hr out
nothing ideal, the city is all about compromises
