Jim -
The Autometer Tach must be powered for it to return to 0 RPM, Make sure
you have
it connected correctly and that should work. I have one in my car
that does the
same thing if power it cut off before the tach settles, hit the
power again and
it pops back to 0 Rpm.

Your Auto
Meter tachometer should go to Zero when powered on with the engine
off. *See
Shift-Lite Tach exceptions below.

I have the same issue I am wondering how to zero
the needle after replacing
the original indicator needle with the Smiths
needle.

Hello all,
Got the final parts in and started final assy. of tach.
People have advised
me to apply 12 VDC to the tach to establish "0" RPM
point.
Try as I might,
on the positive and negative terminals on the back of the
tach, I get no
movement (or pressure in either direction).
Can anybody suggest anything?
What am I overlooking or doing wrong?
