I have in floor heat as well.  Quite, warm, cheep to operate (although
probably a higher initial cost), does not move dust around.  Also, regarding
the concrete.  70 year old concrete, not crumbly, would be adequate in my
mind.  It would have reached it's ultimate hardness by now.  I have a two
post lift bolted down to 6" concrete with no problem.  In fact it holds my
19' searay, with trailer, up to the ceiling so I can park my tiger
underneath. I would be VERY comfortable with a 4 post on a regular garage
floor.

Hi Peter,
If you're looking at replacing concrete anyway, infloor heating is awesome.
We
have one boiler that services both the basement floor and our 650 sqft
garage.
The garage is 2x6 walls, insulated, and the heated floor keeps it
comfortable
to work in even when it's -30 outside.
