Since the engine is a later model that originally had an EGR valve...  I'm
sure the EGR valve has been removed.  But if it hasn't, be sure to
disconnect the vacuum lead to it.  It wouldn't jockey your timing around,
but it may cause your engine to run really rough (primary problem) and a
loose something in the dizzy screws up the timing(secondary problem).  It is
probably just the loose something in the dizzy.
