I now have confirmed the 1224854 short bracket on an L2KA engine and my
F21KA engine has the taller 1229919 bracket.

I believe the 1229919 bracket was cut into the F21KA engine group not just
the Mk II as indicated by the Parts list.

Anyone have a short bracket on an F21KA or later engine?

Anyone have a tall bracket on an earlier than F21KA engine?

I also have a picture of a Mk II bracket that looks even taller than 3.75" -
maybe it is just the angle of the picture.

Anyone have a bracket that is taller than 3.75"?

As for the C2OZ-9741-B bracket - I believe this is a left over from the
Cleveland Foundry assembly line and possibly needed for Final Testing.
Normally engines are run at Final Test to ensure a good assembly. It is
very possible the bracket cost less than a penny and the labor cost to
remove it was not acceptable. This is my best guess; we may never know for
sure.

Tiger Parts List

Carb controls - Section DF

1224891                Spring - Accelerator return

1224854 Bracket - Accelerator spring anchorage Mk I

1229919 Bracket - accelerator spring anchorage Mk II

These parts all have Rootes part numbers.

I received some information from Graham Vickery on the stock brackets.

If you measure the bracket from the base up to the top tip.

1224854 = 1.6"

1229919 = 3.75"

I measured my bracket at 3.71" so it must be the 1229919 bracket on my B382
series Tiger.

So now I wonder when this bracket was changed.

Ron Fraser
