Similar issue, may be related.=C2=A0 You may consider checking the run out =
on the cam/timing gear prior to buttoning up the front end. When I went to =
replace the timing chain/gearset I discovered the new timing gear had the s=
pacer molded into the timing gear. =C2=A0Originally installed the original =
spacer with the new timing gear (double spacer).=C2=A0 =C2=A0When the assem=
bly was rotated by hand I thought the cam shaft was going to pop out of the=
block.=C2=A0 I removed the spacer and the run out problem solved. Kept ori=
ginal thrust plate without issue.

I bought an Edelbrock 7820 timing chain set to go on my 260 and the instruc=
tions say to remove the original cam thrust plate and spacer and replace it=
with Ford thrust plate=C2=A0 # C9OZ-6269-A.=C2=A0 These instructions do no=
t explain WHY the plate needs to be replaced.=C2=A0 I called Edelbrock and =
the guy I spoke to was useless.=C2=A0 I pointed out that the Ford part numb=
er they listed appears to be obsolete and his response was to send me a lin=
k to Ebay where an old one is for sale.=C2=A0 I've found some other vendors=
that have replacements for this number.=C2=A0 Does anybody know why a diff=
erent thrust plate would be required for the Edelbrock timing chain set?
