There is an interesting article in the November 2019 Auto
Restorer about electric fuel pumps.

Diaphragm fuel pumps will degrade with the alcohol fuel blends, the alcohol
attacks the rubber diaphragm and other gasket parts.

I know because I had a diaphragm fuel pump just barely get me home one
evening. The rubber diaphragm was a total mess when I took that pump
apart. I really don't know how it worked long enough to get
me home but so glad it did.

The article in Auto Restorer is about a gear pump that is compatible with
modern fuel bends. The author Randy Rundle enters the Great Race.

The 12 v pump has a peak of 4 psi and can deliver 30 gallons per hour - cost
$95 with a fuel filter.

30 gallons per hour is 2X the volume of the stock SU pump and can thus
support more than 200 HP engines probably up to 400 HP.

No endorsement here - just FYI information with contact info from the
article.
