Here's the gauge that fried. Unfortunately, I broke off the needle taking t=
he thing apart to see if it could be repaired. I think I'll use this as a h=
ost for a Voltmeter conversion, since I'm not excited about all the power r=
unning through a gauge in the dash anyway. When the shunt opened, the car l=
ost all power at 70 mph in the left lane of the freeway. No more engine, no=
 more turn signals, brake lights, anything. Quite exciting. Has anyone conv=
erted one of these, or do you just buy an aftermarket voltmeter and install=
 it. I kind of like the idea of it at least appearing factory.

Answered my own question:  After WWI, the British subsidiary (British Jaege=
r) of Jaeger of Paris secured the manufacturing rights to the chronometric =
mechanism and manufactured these very reliable chronometric mechanisms at a=
 factory at Willesden. In 1927 British Jaeger was purchased by Smiths Indus=
tries Limited.

ths and the ammeter lucas. The lighter was a casco.
