Yes you can R & R the intake manifold with the engine installed.I've don=
e in many times. It will convince you to change out the cast iron manifo=
ld for an aluminum manifold if you haven't already.Those cast iron manif=
olds are heavy.

Don't see why not. The distributor will need to come out for forward mov=
ement. And depending on the valve cover overhang at least one cover (rec=
ommend the passenger side because of its more forward placement) might h=
ave to come off. A few of the rear bolts may be somewhat difficult being=
 under the firewall. Apparently that guy at Rootes that swung that big o=
le sledge hammer at the firewall just didn't hit it hard enough. :-D (ju=
st kidding of course)
