Hal, the only theory I can come up with that ties all your symptoms together is slightly loosened rocker shaft hold-downs which leak more freely at higher temperatures and reduce oil pressure but so much oil comes out as to leak down through a poorly installed valve guide(s) from your new head job, especially during engine braking when intake manifold pressure is low.
