That is basically what I had in mind.  I wat planning on using the RTV 
in conjunction with the original seal.  The seal it complete just 
ripped so you can kinda open it up like a 'C'.  I was planning on using 
a LITTLE RTV on the mating surfaces (all four planes) to 'shore it up a 
little.  Looking at it,  I think it would have an 80% chance of being 
usable without RTV but what the hell!
