My "replacement" TR7 4-speed has a terrible reverse--grinding, jumping out of gear, etc.-- I know that there was a factory refit on this weak point of the transmission. I intend to refit the laygear, 1st/2nd cluster and reverse with the later (improved) version and also change out the synchros with new ones. Has anyone ever done this. It should be a straight forward job. Is it? Any recommendations (short of don't bother repairing a barely adequate transmission.)? Thank you in advance. |
