Ok, so the sucking sound is coming from my wallet too....

Last night I headed home with another piece or two to make TR6 happy,
a new rotor and cap. I'd planned on driving it down to the local
Triumph Travelers club meeting, but ended up wrenching on it for a
goodly amount of time. Replaced the countersunk screws that hold the
top in place and tinkered a bit. Took her for a brief bimble and then
the new sound presented itself. Step on the brake pedal and you hear
a vacuum sound sucking....and the brakes have lost their bite.

So it's obviously the brake servo....a seal? A hose come loose? Is
it that non-return valve? Anyone have any ideas?

Being an octagonal type dude I've never wrenched on a brake servo before,
are these parts gonna cost me big bucks? Or are they cheap and the fix
easy? Somehow I doubt it's the latter.

I pulled both carbs, and began taking apart the first one....I have the
rebuild kit and hopefully both carbs will be rebuilt before the weekend.
I must say the throttle linkage on these cars is rather crude...lots of
joints...lots of places for slop to occur. Oh well...so it goes...

Hopefully the car will be in better running condition for next months
meeting.

Cheers,
teej
