I had a single Del on my 1500 for a while.  They run real rich at idle and I
could not get #2 and #3 cyls to fire at idle on account of the mixture.
 Scooting around town is a lot of work with a motor set up with racing carbs.
 They are best a WOT.  Lots of top end, though.  Also, they suck gas.

Your friend might get ahold of some Lotus guys, since some of the Elans came
stock with a pair of Dels.
