        That's a Ford GT40... (hmmmm, you're a youngster ain'tcha?)
        They are seriously wondeful cars...

There's an apocriphal story floating about that Henry Ford II was
attending a car show in Europe. Ford was pimping a new model (`could
have been the Edsel). He ran into Enzo Ferrari... Who, during the
course of the conversation remarked, that Americans could never be
truly competitive in "world class" auto racing (read venues like
LeMans, etc, etc.) because they didn't build cars of "quality".

This put the wind up Ford's tail and he determined to make Ferrari
eat his words. Ford dumped LOTS of money into race program
development. From this corporate support came the Cobra, Cobra
Daytona Coupe and Ford GT40 which eventually dominated the field
for several years... Of course after the "mission" was accomplished
Ford moved it's money to other endeavors.

BTW, the small luggage compartment, and spare tire were required
                                                                ^^^^^^^^
to qualify the car as a GT car. Other manufacturers had similar
        "solutions" to the sace problem...
