Hello Odd & other Spitfire owners,

Your description of the air-bellows assist on the rear springs
just reminded me of what's on my `other' car, an '81 Cadillac
Seville Diesel Roadhogster -- it's called the `level ride' system
and it uses a small electric compressor (size of an electric hand
drill) to boost pressure into the rear `air shocks' as they're
commonly known here. There is a sensor on the rear sway bar that
turns on the compressor, if I'm guessing right from just a visual
inspection. I don't know if it compensates for left / right loads,
but maybe the proportioning valve could be added.

I'm putting this on the list since this entire level-ride setup
could probably be found at nearly any large salvage yard that has
big GM cars in it, and I doubt there are many calls for these pieces
as repair items, so the price, hopefully, will be very reasonable.
The fact that it's on the Seville model should mean that it's also
available on the `sister' models, Olds Tornado and Buick Riviera,
and probably others too.
