Fuel Pressure 79 Spit

I have installed a electronic fuel pump in my 79 Spit.
I have also installed a fuel pressure gauge.  At this 
point in time I am still using the mechanical pump.  The
fuel pressure gauge reads 2.5 PSI just before the carb (ZS CD).
Is this correct?  When I also put a pressure regulator in
line so that the electric pump will supply the correct pressure.
