Tom's right, how did you measure it?

If you take a caliper and measure only the height of the lobe, the
measurements can vary quite a bit.  You need to measure the height and
subtract the width to get the lift.  You should come up with the same
number across the cam.  But the only way to get accurate numbers is with
a dial indicator as Tom already mentioned.  Although the cross section
method will be close.

Good luck.  Hope the cam is ok.  BTW, a .020 difference in lift would
not be ok for a new cam.  (Or an old one for that matter.)
