Gary; Here's a wacked-out alternative to sandblasting that works! After
degreasing, soak the parts in water and Drano! That's right, put them in
a higher than normal concentration of drain cleaner (@ 8 oz. to 2 gals.
water.) Soak the metal parts for 24-48 hrs. The drain cleaner is highly
caustic (rubber gloves, please!) so rust is gone, and it lifts most of
the paint off too!. I used this method on my Tiger's A-Arms, spindles
and lots of small sheet metal parts. Worked like a charm. Water rinse
when done, and a little wire brushing to knock off the loose remains. I
used epoxy primer followed with gloss epoxy black for a very durable
finish.
