Don't (repeat) DON'T try to remove the line from the gauge.  It is a filled
capillary line that contains a liquid that expands from the heat in the
coolant at the water pump and directly causes a Bourdon tube in the gauge
itself to drive the temperature indication.  I've owned a '60 TR3A for
quite a few years and just finished restoring it.  I consider myself very
lucky that, even with a lot of caution, I didn't damage the tubing taking
it out and reinstalling it.  You will pay a lot (if you can find one) to
get another gauge and capillary if you damage the one you have!
