I thought the reason for 1st and/or 2nd  gear lockout had more to do with 
gear ratios - i.e. overdrive 1st being not much different from normal 2nd ?
Also gearbox ratios changed between early TR6s and later TR6s so
did overdrive 2nd become not much different from normal 3rd ?
Has anyone figured this out ?
