When I started work on my now completed 75 TR6, I wrestled with the same
questions as you. My decisions were based on personal as much as finacial
reasons.

I derive a great deal of personal satisifaction working on projects that
show tangible results. I've always enjoyed working with my hands. What I
lack in skill or prior experience I make up for with patience and
research.

I never allowed myself to consider my project as an investment, but at
20+ years old the TR's worth more than my 90's Taurus and Caravan. I know
that I spent too much money, but on those warm, sunny top down days I
never think about.

If you're not going to enjoy the process almost as much as the finished
product, buy a finished example.
