Subject: Oil Filter for Early Spitfire

Dear List,

Can anyone suggest which oil filter to use on an early Spit
engine. I am almost ready to try to start an 1147cc engine that has
not been run in years. I also have a 1979 Spitfire, and that car
uses a filter that has a larger threaded opening. The reference
books I've look in don't included the early engines. I would
appreciate any help you can offer.

Alan,

I got a Wix filter for Amy's Mk 2 Spit (with the 1147). The filter number is
51312. It comes with an adaptor.
