I just redid the driver's door last weekend on by '76 TR-6 and basically
followed the following
steps:
- obviously removed the door and window handles
- removed the small staples where I wanted to redo the vinyl/trim that had
come loose
- put a seam of Liquid Nails down where the vinyl is fastens to the back of
the particle board
- stretched the vinyl as much as I could with my fingers while my wife put
down a 3" width of duct tape over the seam to hold the vinyl in place.
- same with the beaded trim, put down a seam of Liquid Nails, then held the
trim in place while my wife again put the Duct tape down. Liquid Nails
can be clean off any vinyl with turpentine.
I had an area around the top of the door was becoming brittle and torn so I
glued (Liquid Nail again) a large 6" x 6" piece of Evergreen plastic .20 of
an inch over the area and then cut out a circle where the original fastener
went through.
