Ask around the specialty shops for wood.  Around here we have one called
Tools & Space, they specialize in woodworking oddities.

If you have trouble finding a roll of veneer, it's quite easy to patchwork
the dash.  I used a total of 5 pieces of veneer on my dash; 2 big pieces
over the gauges and the glovebox, and small fillers on the edges and the
middle.  The advantage- the 2 sides are book-matched.  The disadvantage-
you need to have fairly big pieces.  12" may be pushing it; I was able to
put the "seams" behind some stuff (so that there's only about 1/2" of seam
exposed).
