I used an old brake caliper piston ring.  Major caveat- make sure that ALL
the brake fluid is off it.  (dunk it in TSP and let it dry, rub with clean
rags, wave dead chicken, do naked moon dance, etc)

You may also want to see if an O-ring can be used- most parts stores have
a big rack of them
