The cheapo cassette radio the DPO installed in my TR6 has become
a white noise generator (static machine). The problem has been
verified to be the actual radio. I turn to the list looking for
someone who has found a modern replacement that fits without
metal modification.
I thought any shaft radio would work, but several years ago, in
the interest of more buttons, manufacturers went to a larger
rectangular opening. The current models I've found all need a
rectangular opening of 4 inches wide by 1 5/8 tall. The current
dead radio is 3 1/2 x 1 1/2, with the opening in the dash support
just slightly larger.
Has anyone found a mini chassis design cassette radio recently.
If so, could you please reply and tell me the manufacturer and
model. I'd like to keep the radio in the stock location and not
pay for a custom built radio.
